NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

Gingerbread Cottages Bed & Breakfast, near Clear Lake, accepts non-shedding dogs that are 10 pounds or less in suitable cottagess. Each doggy receives a keepsake blanket or bowl to take home. Biscuits are provided for dogs at breakfast.

Brannan Cottage Inn, in the Napa Valley's most unique town of Calistoga, has two rooms that are pet friendly (of it's 6 total rooms). We have special rates for pets and they (dogs especially) are welcome to romp on our newly re-landscaped lawn area. Dogs are also welcome in many of our local wineries. There also is a big "park" (the athletic fields for the high school) across the street in back, and the excellent hiking trail ("Oat Hill Mine Trail") starts about one half mile to the northeast. We also provide Travelin' Dog Pet Amenities ("for discriminating dogs and their people") for our four footed guests, including such things as liver biscotti, dog cookies, and doggie clean-up baggies.

Or enjoy accommodations in one of the Napa Inn's pet-friendly rooms - the Garden Cottages or Angelina's Garden room.

The Beazley House Bed & Breakfast Inn offers the 11 pet friendly rooms in Napa. The inn has an official canine greeter named Tummy! This 10-year-old Golden Retriever will play with you or your pooch. The Carriage House has three rooms that walk right onto our gardens, two more with garden views and there are six rooms in the Mansion. Our four-legged guests receive a water bowl and their own treat bag, complete with Fido friendly magazine, dog cookies, and a list of Dog-Friendly wineries and restaurants. And if your pooch needs a break from you, the inn has the names and numbers of dog sitters and even a couple of “Doggy Resorts.” All this for just $30 per day with your breakfast delivered to you in the Gardens so you and your furry friend can play with Tummy!

The Jenner Inn and Cottages, located in Jenner on the Sonoma Coast, features six different accommodation opportunities for pets. There are two rooms, one suite, one cottage and two vacation rentals homes, one of which has a special doggie area on the side of the house and a pet door into the house. The cottage is situated looking over the meadow, a perfect place to walk a pet, away from the road. There are numerous trails as well as the beach which has some restriction. Guests can also bring their pet and dine outside the restaurant on the patio area.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

Rosemary Cottages Bed & Breakfast in Inverness, near Point Reyes National Seashore, accepts dogs at their cottages for a $40 per visit fee. Towels and sheets are provided for keeping feel clean and covering furniture, if necessary, along with bowels, decomposing waste bags, gates for providing a safe area on the deck, ect. Printed sheets are also provided with information on hikes and beaches that are pet friendly.

Settled among the foothills of Central Marin, just minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, is Gerstle Park Inn. The inn is the perfect getaway location for you and the four-legged member of your family. The inn features several rooms in the main house with handy outside access that is perfect for dog walking. The estate is surrounded by an acre-and-a-half of oak and redwood trees, picturesque gardens and fruit orchard, which make ideal venues for walking your pet. Apart from the main house, there are several cottages with fully-equipped kitchens that make traveling with “man’s best friend” easy and convenient on longer stays. Well-situated between the attractions of San Francisco and Wine Country, equipped with amenities designed with your utmost comfort in mind, the Gerstle Park Inn invites you to settle back and relax with us knowing you and your dog are welcome!

The owners of the Golden Gate Hotel are big dog fans and are happy to welcome dogs as their guests. Just register your pooch upon making the reservation ($25 one time charge, some basic policies to agree on) and let us know if you need doggie bowls and bed. Most likely Cookie, the golden retriever, or Patsy, the French bulldog, will be on hand to greet you!"

GOLD COUNTRY / HIGH SIERRA

Escape with your pet to the beautiful Capay Valley and enjoy a relaxing getaway at an 1898 farm-style house located on a 142-acre working ranch that includes an onsite zoo. Capay Valley Bed and Breakfast has two pet-friendly cottages (the Dog House and the Cat's Meow) complete with food bowls and enclosed porches.

The 1859 Historic National Hotel has been a popular pet friendly inn for many years. The inn takes pets up to 60 lbs (total weight for two dogs is also 60 lbs), and provide a welcome basket for Fido with not only a doggie blanket and treat but also bowls for food and water.

With loads of room to run and take long leashed walks, guests are encouraged to bring their pets at no additional charge to the Union Hill Inn in Sonora. The inn has hosted "doggy" weddings, and have lodged many furry friends. Currently, the inn has a Schnauzer in the Roadhouse, a Scotti in the Bridal Cottage and an English Bulldog in the Jade room!

Tails wagging and faces smiling, beagle buddies Rusty and Princess Ginger are the father and daughter reception committee for guests to their home at The Groveland Hotel! The historic two storied Groveland Hotel, 23 miles from Yosemite National Park on California’s Highway 120 is definitely pet friendly. Four-footed guests are supplied with their own bedtime snack to go with the fresh baked cookies provided for their people pals. Specially selected ceramic or aluminum dishes are placed for mealtime and fluffy granny-quilted comforters lay ready for tired tail-waggers. The outdoor Garden Courtyard is an inviting place for pet families to dine. Guests gravitate to its green shaded privacy and pets are often seen resting on the stone and mortar overlay.

A Haven of Rest Bed & Breakfast in Oakhurt welcomes small to medium size pets that are well behaved. The inn recognizes that many responsible pet owners do not want to travel without their pets and the inn welcomes them.

Hotel Charlotte, a B&B style hotel built in 1921, located in the authentic Gold Rush era town of Groveland near Yosemite, has two rooms downstairs that are pet friendly. One has a queen bed, plus a futon that converts into a double bed, private bathroom and TV. The other has two queen beds, private bathroom, TV, and enough room to add a rollaway bed for an additional person. All guests receive free breakfast at Hotel Charlotte each day. We do need advance notice that you plan to be traveling with your pet(s), and we do charge a nominal fee for this service. Goose, our Parlor Dog, and 1st Deputy Mayor of Groveland, would love to meet you and your pets.

CENTRAL COAST / VALLEY

Or, head to the ocean and stay at the Carmel Country Inn where pets are always welcome. In addition to a pet-friendly room, you'll be provided with helpful information such as nearby pet services, pet-friendly restaurants and even local pet sitters.

The Monte Verde Inn, located in the heart of Carmel and 5 blocks to the ocean, loves pet visitors! We provide welcome letters and gifts for our animal friends. And all our pet guests receive a blanket to use during their stay. In addition, Carmel by the Sea is listed as one of the most dog friendly vacation spots. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The Casa Laguna Inn & Spa has been a pet-friendly inn for more than 15 years. All pets traveling with their owners receive a "Welcome" note from Emory, the Casa Laguna Inn mascot. That note contains information about restaurants and attractions nearby that are pet-friendly as well as pet sitting and pet care services, veterinarians, information on the Laguna Beach Dog Park, and the rules for having pets on the beaches and around town. The Casa Laguna has recently expanded upon its “human” massage services to include treatments for canine guests. The pooch pampering is provided through an exclusive agreement with Terry Senko, a certified equine and canine massage therapist from Positive Feelings.

Old Yacht Club Inn is located one block from the beach! This popular Mission Craftsman-style inn is within walking distance of the coastal bike path, restaurants, shops parks,the pier, bird refuge and natural habitat zoo. Amenities include full gourmet breakfast, afternoon wine social, sherry in all rooms, a relaxing front porch and sun deck with the smell of ocean air year round. All rooms are non-smoking and have private bathrooms, some with whirlpool tubs fireplaces and private decks. Up to two pets are welcome with prior approval and there is a $15 per pet per night charge. Pets must never be left alone or unattended, especially in the rooms. State Street, a popular shopping area, is within walking distance. Guest must notify front desk upon arrival and is liable for any damages. In consideration of all guests, pets must never be left unattended in the guest rooms.
